Privacy Policy
How Ask David collects, uses and protects the personal information you share through this website.
Last updated: 7 June 2026
1. Who we are
Ask David Handyman & Garden Services (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides handyman and garden services across West Sussex and Surrey. We are the “data controller” for the personal information you provide through this website.
If you have any questions about this policy or your information, contact us at askdavidhandyman@gmail.com or 07593 921 560.
2. The information we collect
When you use our contact / quote form, we collect:
- your name;
- your email address;
- your phone number;
- the service(s) you’re interested in;
- any details you choose to include about your job.
We only collect information you choose to give us — please don’t include sensitive personal information in your message. When you submit the form, our form-delivery provider and email service may also process limited technical data (such as your IP address) to deliver your message and help prevent spam.
3. How and why we use it
We use your information only to:
- respond to your enquiry and provide a quote;
- arrange and carry out any work you ask us to do;
- keep records of quotes and jobs.
Our lawful bases under UK GDPR are taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and running our business. We will never use your details for marketing without your consent, and we never sell your data.
4. Who we share it with
We don’t sell or rent your information. We share it only with trusted providers who help us run the website and reply to you:
- Splitforms — the form-delivery service that securely transmits your enquiry from this website to us;
- Google (Gmail) — our email provider, where we receive and store enquiries.
These providers process your data only on our instructions. Some may process it outside the UK; where they do, appropriate safeguards are in place. We may also disclose information where we are legally required to do so.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
This website does not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. It uses a “service worker”, which stores website files in your browser to make the site faster and available offline — this does not collect any personal information.
6. How long we keep your information
We keep enquiry details only for as long as we need them to respond to you and manage any work that follows, plus a reasonable period afterwards for our business records. When the information is no longer needed, we delete it.
7. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to our use of your information, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. To exercise any of these, email us at askdavidhandyman@gmail.com and we’ll respond within one month.
8. Keeping your information secure
We take reasonable steps to keep your information secure and only work with reputable service providers. No method of transmitting data over the internet is completely secure, but we do our best to protect it.
9. Children
Our website and services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Other websites
Our site may link to other websites. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices, so please review their own policies.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always appear on this page, with the “last updated” date shown above.
12. Complaints
If you have a concern about how we handle your information, please contact us first so we can put things right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO): ico.org.uk or 0303 123 1113.
